The Office of Athletic Development is committed to raising the financial support necessary to ensure the success of our student-athletes and the long-term future of our athletic department.

Through the generous contributions of our donors, we provide current and future Canes with the scholarship support, resources, and facilities necessary to achieve excellence while at the U and long after they graduate.

Brian Campbell
Brian Campbell Assistant Vice President, Athletics Development

Brian Campbell joined the University of Miami in May of 2023 as Assistant Vice President for Athletics Development. In this role, Brian has oversight of fundraising operations, programs, and the development team for Miami Athletics.

Amy Ferguson
Amy Ferguson Senior Associate AD / Principal Giving

A 20-year veteran in fundraising for the University of Miami, Amy Ferguson returned to her athletics roots in February of 2023. In her current role, Ferguson focuses on major gifts and principal gifts across all athletics initiatives with a focus on generating support for the Football Operations Center.

Mat Bernstein
Mat Bernstein Director of Development

Mat Bernstein rejoined Miami Athletic Development as Director of Development in 2021. Bernstein comes to Miami Athletic Development after spending the previous four years at University of Central Florida (UCF) working in multiple roles, including Coordinator for Athletics Development & Donor Relations before being elevated to Assistant Director of Development for Major Gifts in 2020.

Da’Ron Brown
Da’Ron Brown Director of Development

Da’Ron Brown joined Miami Athletic Development in fall 2021 as the Director of Development of Major Gifts. Before joining Miami Athletic Development, Brown was the Director of Resource Development with the Baylor Bear Foundation of Baylor Athletics. At Baylor, Brown was responsible for generating revenue by soliciting gifts for Leadership Annual Giving which assisted in providing student-athlete scholarships, premium seating, as well as other responsibilities of the annual fund which generated 19.5 million fiscal year 2020-21.

Kevin Weaver Director of Development

Kevin Weaver joined the Athletic Development staff in February 2020 as Assistant Director of Annual Giving. As a member of the Athletic Development team, he assists with securing student-impact gifts, renewals, and data management, and seeks to enhance the game day experience for all donors.

Crystal Demps
Crystal Demps Senior Administrative Assistant

Crystal Demps joined Athletics in 2008, serving as an Administrative Assistant to the senior staff in the Hurricane Club office. In her daily duties, she oversees all office communications and various administrative tasks for the department. She also coordinates schedules for the Development team interns, and student workers. Prior to working for the Hurricane Club, she was a senior Administrative Assistant for an engineering firm here in Miami. A Miami native, Demps is married with three kids.

Kayla Blake currently serves as the Miami Hurricanes Assistant Vice President of Engagement with Legends College, where she oversees the Golden Cane Society and Annual Fund initiatives.

  • ATHLETIC DEVELOPMENT INTERN

    Coral Gables, FL Unpaid Internship

    We are seeking self-motivated and hard-working individuals who are willing to assist in the office and on gamedays and are interested in pursuing a career in collegiate sport administration. This position will give individuals the opportunity to develop their donor relations and fundraising skills in the following areas:

    • Qualifying prospective donors based upon affinity and capacity
    • How to make both individual solicitations
    • Operating a major giving society
    • Learning the various types of philanthropic gifts a donor can make
    • Providing quality customer service
    • Stewarding donors after a gift is made
    • Effectively running gameday hospitality for high-level individuals
    • Using fundraising and ticketing software
    • Utilizing technology to identify, segment and target donors
    • Assisting in the management of Give2UM media platforms including Twitter and Instagram
    • Assisting in the maintenance of the Hurricane Club Athletic Development website

  • IS MY ATHLETIC DEVELOPMENT DONATION TAX-DEDUCTIBLE?

    Student Impact Donations, Golden Canes Society Memberships, Athletic Director Society, capital project and program-specific gifts are tax-deductible minus any benefits received. An official University of Miami tax receipt will be issued once the gift is received.

  • ARE SEASON TICKET PURCHASES TAX-DEDUCTIBLE?

    Due to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Acts that went into effect on January 1, 2018, any season ticket purchases are no longer tax-deductible. This includes what was previously known as seats donation.

  • IS THERE A DEADLINE TO MAKE A GIFT?

    There is no set deadline to make a gift, but Hurricane Club Memberships run on a calendar year (January-December). The earlier in the year you make your gift the longer you can take advantage of the special benefits we offer.
